Creating a Microsoft Exchange Backup Configuration (for version 3.6 or earlier)

This procedure applies to LiveVault Online Backup and Recovery Service Agent version 3.6 or earlier. If you are running Agent version 4.0 or later, see Creating a Microsoft Exchange Backup Configuration.

If you are running Microsoft Exchange Server on this computer, create a special database backup configuration specifically to protect Exchange.

To define this special configuration, you specify the Exchange version, select just the related Exchange files, and set a schedule indicating when Exchange should be backed up. A backup configuration automatically named Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003 or Microsoft Exchange 5.5 (based on the specified version) will be created.

Important: To accurately back up Exchange, follow the guidelines in the appropriate procedure for your Exchange version:

To help ensure that your Exchange data is appropriately protected, LiveVault Online Backup and Recovery Service provides special management for this configuration.

Note: It is not necessary to exclude the Exchange files from the Files and Directories backup configuration.
